Still. He's going to go through everyone. ]
I'd like to speak to you about the reconnaissance mission.
[ No introduction or context. If Jack Davis is as dangerous as all that, Severus assumes he'll have kept plenty of tabs on people operating in his general sphere of activity. ]

There is a delay before his response, but not long. ]

[ --comes a groggy voice that is probably not anyone the soldier knows personally. It's muzzily friendly. ]
Hey do you, uhh. They're making soup, I think, I'll bring you soup. Or medication, you know, but chicken noodle soup sounds awesome to me.

From the shoulders up she's more or less the same as ever, or at least the same as ever lately since it seems like it's been months since she wasn't pale and hollow-cheeked, eyes set in dark smudges. The t-shirt is a little less fitted than she prefers, but the sweatpants are definitely not her usual choice except for quick trips across the hall. They make more sense when you see her hands, hanging at her sides like zombie limbs. Not quite useless yet, since she's holding a pair of gloves clasped between thumb and palm, but one wonders how long ago she tied on those boots.
She's got two bags, small-ish duffles, straps criss-crossing her chest. ] Ready to go when you are, minus hand-things.

But then, he doesn't imagine she minds. The once-over he gives her is quick and composed, even if it lingers half a beat too long on her hands. That's not great, either. Not as bad as it could be, though. (Or as bad as it will be.) ]
Come on in. I've got some tape.
[ He takes a step back and aside. The room looks surprisingly lived-in, considering its resident — at least, unless you look close enough to notice the resident it reflects is not him. Somebody military-tidy but real and human lived here once, and the soldier has just taken up residence in the shell they left behind, stashed weapons in the vents and hung black jump suits in the closet. There's a jug of water and a pile of cans and a roll of duct tape on the table. ]
Which bag are the knives in? [ From Arima, he means. ]

no one's asked her to check up on him, the initiative for that's all her own. so she's knocking on his door and then settling against the wall next to it, because any moment that she doesn't have to carry the entire weight of her own body is a blessing. ]

When the door finally does slide open, he doesn't look much clearer. Still red-eyed, unfocused, and with his hair sticking up on the left and some kind of red marks across that side of his cheek, an alternating hash-mark tread — not unlike the one on the floor at their feet, in fact. He plants a metal shoulder against the door frame like it's the only thing keeping him upright and squints at her in the light. ]
Hey.
