Something powerful enough to have done all this could easily have fabricated things for you to experience. Perhaps even effortlessly. Bullshit is a possibility. On the other hand, Xavier lacked finesse.

Not as such. I'm a wizard, not a mutant. The magic I can perform manifests differently, and deliberately.

It depends on the application. I can navigate another person's mind, should they permit it and circumstances are amenable. If you were to stand across the room from me I could not "read" your mind like a telepath. Do you think you need further assistance?

[ It's a few days before he shows. He waits until he's at the door to text, out of habit — it's not that he expects Severus to be unprepared so much as if there's a slight potential advantage to be had, his instinct is to have it.

(There may be no reason to do this at all, no information to be gleaned besides what he already knows Charles recorded, but he wants to be certain what Severus knows — or what he's willing to share, and perhaps just as importantly, what security measures are in place should he ever need to destroy it.)

There's no text reply. No reply in person, either, for a good two minutes. And then the laboratory doors slide open, near-silent whir of powered machinery, to reveal a permanently-unpleasant-looking man of average height and unfortunate aesthetics. Severus has his hands clasped behind his back, and his gaze is critical.

It is, perhaps, a familiar look. In the times he hovered behind Shepard like a malicious shadow, Professor Snape remained silent - and observant. ]

The unlocking spell is 'alohomora', actually.

[ The soldier has a certain appreciation for that observance, and the utter absence of pretense in the other man's demeanor, although something about perpetual dourness always inclines him to swing the opposite direction. ]

Well, now you'll never get rid of me. [ is said with a slight smile to his eyes, as if he will not be dissuaded from attempting to charm the other man by simple fact of it presumably being impossible. He does miss the mechanism of the doors, nor the details of the entryway as he steps through it, but his demeanor is calculatedly harmless. ]

Professor Snape, isn't it? Can I ask you something?

[ Calculated, but not wholly convincing. Severus pretends not to notice, but does stay out of direct arm's reach. The soldier will have to at least step towards him to hit him, and that's enough time for him to react if need be. He leads the way towards his office, pace unhurried but economical. Severus is a busy man. ]

I'm sure you're capable. [ .. of asking a question. ]

[ He doesn't miss that either, but finds it smart, rather than obnoxious, if only because he has no immediate plans to harm Severus. He keeps up, but looks to Severus to ask, ]

[ Letting him in. Showing him Charles's file on him. Any of it. (He'd asked, but he hadn't necessarily expected permission.) ]

[ As a member of recon, and as someone who might end up back in for more treatment - though not from Xavier, who even now in currentgametime is back working in Xenogen, but still not allowed to take cases that hinge on his telepathy. ]

[ As a potential threat, too, he assumes, whether Severus intends the implication or not. A catlike stillness shines in his eyes and is gone. ]
